Frequently Asked Questions

If you haven’t been to Pure Health and Wellness Clinic before, you may wonder what you can expect. We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to address your concerns.

What types of treatment are offered?

Within the naturopathy field, we use the modalities of nutritional medicine, homeopathy, aromatherapy, massage and herbal medicine. Various aspects of exercise, diet and rest are used to form a personalised treatment strategy for you. Clinical methods of testing including blood, saliva and urine tests are utilised to determine why your body may be out of balance.

What is naturopathy?

Naturopathic medicine, commonly called naturopathy, is a healing system relying on natural and noninvasive treatment types. The focus is on addressing the cause of disease or illness instead of treating the condition to enhance and harness the body’s natural healing properties. In naturopathy, good health is more than a lack of sickness. It focuses on strengthening your natural defenses through a range of methods such as nutrition, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, therapeutic massage and homeopathy.

Is naturopathy safe?

To ensure safety, take anything prescribed as directed and keep away from children. Don’t share treatment with anyone, since each is tailored to your unique needs and situation.

What is homeopathy?

Based on the principle of like cures like, homeopathy causes the production of symptoms to treat the similar symptoms a sick person is experiencing. It stimulates the body’s infection-fighting abilities and makes them less susceptible to disease. Each person is treated as a whole, taking into account factors like lifestyle, personality and hereditary influences.

What is nutritional medicine?

Vitamin and mineral supplements are used to improve the body’s levels of these substances or trace elements, preventing or combating disease and illness and returning the body to an optimum state of health.

It’s challenging to get the nutrition the body needs naturally due to modern farming methods, food and diet that don’t provide adequate nutrients that the body can absorb. Ill health can also prevent the absorption of nutrients.

What is herbal medicine?

Plant-based remedies are used to treat illness or return the body to an optimum state of health. Plants have been used therapeutically for thousands of years, with different parts having various advantages. Many forms of modern pharmaceuticals are based on the chemicals of a plant, such as heart medications that contain digitalis, derived from foxglove.

What is aromatherapy?

Essential oils and aromatic plant compounds are used to achieve physical and psychological healing. They can be applied directly to the skin or are inhaled. For example, eucalyptus can be inhaled to alleviate congestion symptoms.

What is hair analysis?

A small sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis, giving an overview of heavy metals or minerals present in the body. These substances may contribute to ill health, giving direction to the proper treatment for you.

What is live blood analysis?

In live blood analysis, a specialised microscope is used to examine a drop of blood to determine variations in shape, size and structure of the red or white blood cells, platelets and more. It’s a useful tool that can identify the factors that contribute to your health challenges.

What is Fitgenes™?

This personalised health and nutrition programme is based on science, taking individual DNA profiles to create a tailored lifestyle program for optimal wellbeing. With this personalised approach, a number of genes are analysed to determine lifestyle and nutritional factors that influence your health. This assessment is noninvasive with no pain involved.

What is a VegaTest®?

A noninvasive diagnostic test, Vega uses a specialised electronic machine to examine your natural energy and how it changes when exposed to therapeutic treatments. It determines the function of your bodily systems including musculoskeletal, nervous and immune systems, as well as internal organs. Allergy testing is also available, along with measuring heavy metals and the absorption of vitamins and minerals. This test can also identify whether natural medicines are the right choice in improving your health.

What is therapeutic massage?

Relaxation massage is a part of therapeutic massage, but the main focus is on relief from chronic pain or health issues. Techniques such as trigger point therapy and deep tissue massage may be used to return you to optimum health. Our massages are conducted with the utmost respect and professionalism.

What is Swedish massage?

Classic massage, or Swedish massage, utilises long strokes, friction, kneading, tapping, vibrating, percussion or shaking motions to apply pressure to muscles and bones. It is helpful in reducing joint stiffness and pain, increasing the oxygen flow to the blood and allowing toxins to be released from muscles.

What is iridology?

The iris of the eye is a massive nerve network connected to the body through the brain and nervous system. The patterns and structures present in the iris are a window to the health of other body parts, allowing us to locate areas of inflammation in a noninvasive manner.

What is RBTI analysis?

Reams Biologic Theory of Ionisation, or RBTI, is an analysis of urine and saliva to monitor body functions. It looks at pH, carbohydrates, mineral salts, cellular debris, ammonia and nitrogen levels. The results give an indication of digestive or nutrient absorption problems as well as physical or emotional stress and fatigue.
